Baraka Joseph is one of Flexi Konnect's verified entrepreneurs based in Kampala, Uganda, and the Co-Founder and Project Lead of EmpowerMass, a youth-led social enterprise dedicated to promoting mental health and psychosocial well-being among students and young people. EmpowerMass works with schools and communities to create safe, supportive environments where young people can openly discuss mental health, build resilience, and develop life skills. Through mental health awareness campaigns, peer support programs, wellness workshops, and psychosocial education, the initiative is helping to reduce stigma and encourage early support for students facing emotional and psychological challenges. The work of EmpowerMass is especially important in refugee-hosting communities such as Kampala, where many young refugees and vulnerable youth experience trauma, displacement, social isolation, and the pressures of adapting to new environments. By fostering hope, confidence, and emotional well-being, the initiative empowers young people to succeed in school, strengthen relationships, and contribute positively to their communities.
